Evidence classes
Every figure Atlas shows carries a class. It tells you how much weight the number can bear.
- Verified
- Backed by a document or feed you can open from the figure, dated.
- Verified when dated
- A snapshot that was true on the date shown. Check the date before you rely on it.
- Modelled
- Computed from assumptions. The assumptions are listed beside it, with who set them.
- Fixture
- Demonstration data. Never a basis for a decision.
- Unmeasured
- Atlas cannot say. It says so rather than guessing.
Classes travel with the figure into reports and exports. No role can reclassify a figure; the class follows from the evidence, not from a setting.
